SUMMARY:2025 ICSA Annual Conference: Cultic Phenomena and Interdisciplinary Knowledge: Understanding for Better Intervention
DESCRIPTION:Pre­sent­ed in Mon­tre­al from July 2–5\, 2025\, on the occa­sion of the 45th anniver­sary of Info-Cult\, the next con­fer­ence of ICSA (Inter­na­tion­al Cul­tic Stud­ies Asso­ci­a­tion) aims to cre­ate spaces for inter­dis­ci­pli­nary meet­ings and dis­cus­sions\, in order to improve the under­stand­ing of cul­tic phe­nom­e­na. Co-orga­nized by ICSA and Info-Cult\, this con­fer­ence will offer sci­en­tif­ic pre­sen­ta­tions\, pan­els\, work­shops\, and pub­lic dis­cus­sions around three cen­tral themes relat­ed to Sci­ence\, Inter­ven­tion\, and Soci­ety. \nOver the past ten years\, inter­est in cul­tic phe­nom­e­na has expe­ri­enced a revival both in the media and in the sci­en­tif­ic sphere. Indeed\, the vis­i­bil­i­ty of var­i­ous events relat­ed to rad­i­cal­iza­tion as well as the activ­i­ty of con­spir­a­cy move­ments\, high-pro­file tri­als and the broad­cast­ing of numer­ous pod­casts and doc­u­men­taries deal­ing with a vari­ety of groups or phe­nom­e­na are all fac­tors that can explain this renewed fas­ci­na­tion. At the same time\, prac­ti­tion­ers from dif­fer­ent fields con­tin­ue to encounter the lim­its of their knowl­edge\, espe­cial­ly when work­ing with mem­bers or for­mer mem­bers of high-con­trol groups. \nClick HERE for more infor­ma­tion.
